What is Reiki?

Reiki is a holistic alternative for stress reduction and relaxation. It is done through unseen energy flow. Similar to the practice of "laying hands". A warm and soothing energy flows from the hands of the practitioner onto the client. When your life energy (also known as “KI”) is low it is more difficult to deal with stress, you may not sleep well and you’re more susceptible to illness. When your KI is strong, you feel strong, can more easily deal with stress and are less likely to get sick. Reiki is a technique that increases a person’s supply of life energy. Reiki provides a cleansing and healing of the aura and promotes physical, emotional, mental and/or spiritual healing.

What are the benefits?

Reiki energy allows muscles to relax, increases blood flow and activates the body's natural healing ability. Clients report help with stress, physical discomfort, headaches, insomnia, anxiousness, and other minor conditions. Reiki also promotes psychological healing such as the release of fear, guilt, shame, grief, worry, attachments and other unpleasant feelings. Reiki supports spiritual and personal development of self-preservation, self-gratification, self-definition, self-acceptance, self-expression, self-reflection and self-knowledge.

What is a session like?

Reiki can be faciliated in-person or virtually. The healing session begins with talking through your specific intentions and how you're feeling mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. We also discuss the energies you're looking to cultivate in your day to day. Reiki is administered through the hands of the Practitioner while lying fully clothed on a massage table. The Practitioner places hands at locations around the head and shoulders, the abdomen and on the legs and feet. Tissue is not manipulated. The practitioner’s hands are simply held at each location, lightly touching or slightly away from the body. Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands and into your body and energy field. Reiki is extremely relaxing and it’s common for clients to fall asleep. In closing, you and the practitioner will share any intuitive guidance received during the session.

Is Reiki a religion?

While Reiki is spiritual in nature in that it provides love and compassion to the client, it is not a religion. It has no dogma and does not conflict with religious beliefs. People who are followers of all the various religions have practiced Reiki and find that it enhances their spiritual experience.

Is Reiki self-care?

Reiki is an amazing addition to any self-care routine. Reiki is ideal for an energy tune-up, deep relaxation, to de-stress and boost immunity or support emotional needs during life’s challenges. Reiki is an excellent compliment to conventional medicine and therapy.
